Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a Dance partner to attend?

Absolutely not! Our classes are set up so we rotate leads and follows so everybody gets a turn.

What should I wear to class?

Just be comfortable! We ask that you come prepared for being in a closed dance embrace. Clean clothes are preferred, showered and no strong perfumes. We have MINTS!

Can I Attend a club meeting?

Yes, All meetings will be conducted according to Maryland Code, Corporations and Associates, Title 5, Sub Title 2, section 5-206, which states that if the number of members present at a meeting does not constitute a quorum, those present may call another meeting to meet quorum requirements. At the additional meeting, the members present in person constitute a quorum.

What should I wear to the Saturday Social Dance?

Saturday is a time to shine. You can choose to get dressed up or not. It’s up to your comfort. We do have featured dances, during these dances “being extra” is always fun .

What shoes do I need?

Whether you are an absolute beginner to ballroom dancing or a seasoned expert in the fine art of the waltz, you don’t need to invest too much money to have shoes appropriate for ballroom dancing. Our floors are great for dancing some say slick, because of this some street shoes may or may not work. Toms, Hey dudes, Keds or leather bottom shoes will do the trick.

3 Things To Consider When Buying Ballroom Dance Shoes

  • Comfortability
  • Functionality
  • Safety

Due to the soft bamboo floor we have we are not able to allow stiletto heels without heel caps. You can ask a class rep or board member if we have heel caps to purchase or borrow.

What if I have to miss a class?

Talk to your class rep. If you miss a class they are able to arrange a video to be sent to you so you can practice at home or get you caught up before the following weeks class. You can also reach out to your class instructor for private lessons.
